Saturday, June 9, 2012

i've received some recent feedback from those of you who have attempted to locate and follow the new baby pix page on PINTREST.  (by the way, you guys ROCK for already trying to check it out!)

unfortunately, it seems there was one important piece of information missing from the instructions in my previous blog post on how to FOLLOW baby pix on PINTREST.

if you would like to try again, just click here and it should take you straight to my boards, then click FOLLOW.

if that doesn't work then follow the 4 easy steps below.
     1.) login to PINTREST
2.) type "baby pix photography" in the search window
     * NEW STEP!! *
3.) at the top left of the next screen, there should be three links: one for PINS, BOARDS, and PEOPLE.  click on PEOPLE to get to the actual baby pix photography page.
     4.) finally, click FOLLOW.

my apologies for the confusion.  thanks again, friends!  i hope you enjoy what i've put together for you on PINTREST!

baby pix photography has joined PINTREST

Friday, June 1, 2012

baby pix photography has now joined the oh-so-wonderfully addictive world of PINTREST!

now you can follow baby pix photography on PINTREST and have immediate access to boards showcasing the variety of products and styles available to you when you choose baby pix for your next photo session.  current board categories include:
     -  side-by-side mage enhancements to help you find discover you style
     -  the playful, yet sophisticated ORGANIC BLOOM FRAMES
     -  styles and layout choices to be used in your albums, image boxes, proof cd/case, and more
     -  stationary options ranging from birth announcements to holiday cards

one of the most frequent questions I am asked when planning a photo session is, of course, "WHAT TO WEAR?"  when you visit baby pix on PINTREST, you will find a whole board has been dedicated to groupings of family attire that mix & match the style of mom and dad with the innocence and quirkiness of children's clothing perfectly.

my desire is to make the planning and preparation for your photo session with me a time of excitement, anticipation, and most of all, ease.  it has been a joy creating these boards as i hope that it will become a tool that relieves any unnecessary stress from my clients as they navigate their way through this process.

also, just for fun and because i'm always looking for new activities to try out with my own children, i have added a special board to the page that i would love for you to check out.  "fun with kids" is a board that will give you ideas on creative crafts, innovative games, and just maybe a new idea or two for you to try out on a rainy day when hide-and-go-seek just won't cut it anymore. :)

simply login to PINTREST, type "baby pix photography" in the search window, and click the "follow" button.

i am excited for you to experience this new feature of baby pix photography and look forward to any questions you might have after visiting the site.

happy pinning!

i'm back!

Sunday, April 22, 2012

my homeschooling adventure is coming to an end . . .

it has been more challenging than i ever expected.  my youngest who is on the autism spectrum needed more assistance than i could give him.  in january, he went back to public school where he has an excellent teacher and a wonderful support staff.  he now receives the therapies and individual attention he needs.

i have had a sweet time homeschooling my 5th grader.  it has been wonderful watching him become more independent, grow in areas of academic weakness and discover a love for reading.

i am looking forward to this summer and the months to come as i get back into the swing of photographing little ones and their families.

taking a break

Monday, September 12, 2011

with a sad heart, i am announcing my hiatus.  i am hoping it will only be for 6 - 9 months, but i am really uncertain at this point.

this school year, i have taken on the incredible responsibility of homeschooling my highly intelligent 5th grader and my 2nd grader who has asperger's and many learning difficulties.  it has been harder than i ever expected.  tantrums and tears are a daily occurrence on top of little sleep.  i know God has a plan for all of us and is working in all of our hearts.

i have tried to keep up the business, but it is just too much at this season of my life.

if you have a gift certificate or already have an appointment, i will still honor that investment, but will not be taking any new appointments.  thanks to all those who have let me be a part of your little one's life and i look forward to be back soon!

this precious family is one of my biggest fans.  they were great sports to let me try some new ideas on their newest addition.  (their oldest got a black eye so we are doing pictures with her later this summer.)  Thanks y'all!

granola bars

Saturday, April 2, 2011

i can't believe i haven't posted a recipe since Christmas!  i know a number of you have asked me for various recipes.  today i will share one that a new friend asked for last night.  it is an all natural granola bar  that is fun to make with kids.  in fact, i got this recipe from my dear friend Allene who is a great mom who lets her kids get involved in many of her cooking adventures.

G R A N O L A    B A R S

2 cups oatmeal
1 cup peanut butter (i use crunchy)
1 cup honey
1 cup sesame seeds (i use about 1/2 cup)
1 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 cup nuts (optional - i usually don't)
1 cup chocolate chips (i use ghiradelli semi-sweet)

mix all dry ingredients, then add the peanut butter and honey.  mix (best to mix with hands).

spread on a baking sheet (i lay parchement over it and use a rolling pin) and place in freezer for at least 15 minutes.  cut into bars.  wrap individually with plastic wrap and store in the freezer in a ziplock freezer bag.

asheville baby photographer / my littlest one

Thursday, March 10, 2011

on a personal note . . . my littlest one just got his first pair of glasses.

every now and then we would wonder if he was having a hard time seeing, but with his asperger's we never got a clear answer (probably because this is all he has known).  he never squinted and rarely moved things closer to his face.  last week i finally printed off an eye chart and measure 20 feet and had him try to read the letters.  he had trouble reading two line down from the insanely large E!

thanks to a wonderful friend, she was able to help us get an appointment with a wonderful eye doctor this week.  yesterday we went for his exam and discovered that he has a stigmatism and has trouble seeing closeup and far away . . . bless his heart.

he picked out these glasses (saying he looks like harry potter).  when his glasses were ready, he looked all around and kept saying, "everything looks so close!"
